In theta we are in a dream vivid imagery, intuition and information beyond our normal conscious awareness. It is that twilight state which we normally only experience fleetingly as we wake or drift off to sleep. In theta, our senses are withdrawn from the external world and focused on signals originating from within. Theta is our gateway to learning, memory, and intuition. Theta brainwaves occur most often in sleep but are also dominant in deep meditation. Theta brainwaves, occur in sleep and are also dominant in deep meditation. Healing and regeneration are stimulated in this state, and that is why deep restorative sleep is so essential to the healing process. Delta waves suspend external awareness and are the source of empathy. They are generated in deepest meditation and dreamless sleep. DELTA WAVES (.5 TO 3 HZ)ĭelta Waves, the slowest but loudest brainwavesĭelta brainwaves are slow, loud brainwaves (low frequency and deeply penetrating, like a drum beat). They appear to take a major role in brain timing and network function. Their slow nature make them difficult to detect and accurately measure, so few studies have been done. Very little is known about infra-low brainwaves. Infra-Low brainwaves (also known as Slow Cortical Potentials), are thought to be the basic cortical rythms that underlie our higher brain functions. Note that the sound appears to pulsate only when heard through both earphones.īrainwave speed is measured in Hertz (cycles per second) and they are divided into bands delineating slow, moderate, and fast waves. To experience the binaural beats perception, it is best to listen to this file with headphones on moderate to weak volume – the sound should be easily heard, but not loud. The effect on the brainwaves depends on the difference in frequencies of each tone: for example, if 300 Hz was played in one ear and 310 in the other, then the binaural beat would have a frequency of 10 Hz.
